# How do I connect a phone number?

Open Settings → Phone and either provision a new local or toll-free number or start a port request for your existing line. Once the number is active, calls and texts log automatically to the matching contact record.

## Provision or port a number

1. Go to Settings → Phone → Numbers.
2. Choose Buy number for a new local or toll-free line, or Port number to move an existing one.
3. For ports, upload a recent bill and a signed letter of authorization.
4. Assign the number to a user, team, or campaign.
5. Place a test call and a test text to confirm routing.

## How long does porting take?

Most wireline ports complete in 7–10 business days. Your existing number keeps working until the port completes.

### Do I need to register for A2P 10DLC?

Yes, before you send SMS. Registration is handled inside the platform and is free.
